Sunday Moorings

"Sunday Moorings" is intended to strengthen the ties between Grace households and God. It is also a time when Grace households are intentional about living the good news of God's love for all and offering radical hospitality to all visitors and curious folk.

Education

For children under 10 years old, Bible stories drawn from our Sunday lectionary readings, songs and handicrafts are at the center of age appropriate education each Sunday. With the leadership of Lynn Maragliano, an accomplished and seasoned Cleveland Heights School teacher, teachers (two adults at a time, parents primarily) host a twenty-minute class at the library in the fellowship hall. The class takes place during the Word section of the morning liturgy. Children gather at the chancel stairs before the Prayer of the Day, join in the prayer, and then are released to the teachers. Children return to worship for the Meal section of the liturgy.

On Sundays when "big" stuff happens children are encouraged to remain for the full worship experience and no pullout from worship will occur.

Youth eleven years through eighteen years old are encouraged to be part of an emerging way to support pre-teens and teenagers. Such youth have begun to meet monthly with Pastor David Ernat. They have reclaimed the youth room. Currently, they are reviewing short faith based films available on the Internet and discussing what it means to be a follower of Jesus in our contemporary world, using Luther's Small Catechism. The expectation is that these youth, when they turn 18, will affirm their Baptism as they enter adulthood, as currently defined by our culture.

Parents and others with questions about Sacraments (Baptism, Holy Communion/The Eucharist, the Office of the Keys) or Confirmation/Affirmation of Baptism, are encouraged to contact David Ernat, Pastor.

All people are encouraged to be life-long learners. As the shepherding support system evolves, group activities, both small and large, are available on Sunday mornings. The focus in 2009 for the pastor lead Sunday morning adult education is on reading the Bible.
