Mission

Dear Partners in Christ:
Thank you for all the support you have given us as we fulfill a dream that we've shared for years. Please know we carry you all with us as we journey to Lesotho. We ask for continued prayers that God will open our eyes to see and witness, our minds to learn, our hearts to love, and our hands to serve.
Shalom, Bev & Paul

Identity

Easter Flowers: March 14 and 21, members and friends of Grace are encouraged to purchase flowers to decorate the sanctuary Easter morning, April 4 as we celebrate the victory of life over death, made possible through the resurrection and life of our Lord, Jesus the Christ. Flowers may be purchased in honor of, or in memory of, family, friends or other special people or events. Thank you for bringing vibrant and fragrant life to our worship experience.

During the fellowship time for the remaining Sundays of Lent, on display in the fellowship hall will be Grace's newly acquired "formal" worship aids: a) a Sacring or Sanctus bell and b) a Thurible or "censer." Both items/worship aids, will be dedicated during Sunday worship, March 14. We have introduced the aids during worship February 28 and March 7. Please review the printed material about them provided for you at the display in the fellowship hall.
As we look to enhance the drama of both the formal and informal worship experiences, the church has the wealth of history to tap. These two worship aids, used extensively through history, are currently targeted to heighten our senses and drama of our worship on our "high church" festivals.

During Lent, Bethlehem, Grace and Hope will continue the tradition of joining together for Ash Wednesday and the five Wednesdays of Lent to eat, learn and worship together. This year Noble Road Prebyterian will join with us. Our Wednesday time will be 6 p.m. for soup with a catechism review to follow. Then we will conclude the evening with worship. The schedule is as follows:
March 10, 6:00 p.m., Noble Road Presbyterian, The Lord's Prayer
March 17 , 6:00 p.m., Hope Lutheran, Baptism
March 24, 6:00 p.m., Tour, Fairmount Temple, 7:00 p.m. Interfaith Seder or
6:00 p.m., Bethlehem Lutheran, Holy Communion

Adult Education at Grace will resume with "The Old Testament", a 24 session DVD format taught by Amy Jill Levine, professor at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. The 30-minute DVD lecture will be followed by a 45-minute discussion period during a "Stone Soup" lunch. The pot of stock will be on the stove in the main kitchen prior to the worship service. You are invited to add an ingredient. The soup we make is what we eat during the discussion period.
These 24 lectures are oriented toward historical context and literary import, but do not avoid raising issues of religious concern. The goal is to provide richer insights into the literature that forms our bedrock.
Come! If you cannot attend a session arrangements can be made to view the DVD. Reading the texts listed will enhance appreciation for the material. No sessions on Palm Sunday, Easter, and congregational meeting Sundays.
